June Board Meeting Highlights

Welcome To Our Speakers: On May 29th, our speaker was Sally Decksmith from the Helen Plum Library. On June 5th our speaker was Juliana Viohl from The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. On June 12th, no speaker.

Honored Guests: On May 29th, Art Frerichs was our guest for lunch. Welcome. On June 5th, Jean Johnson and Art Frerichs were guests' of club. On June 12th, our guests were Art, Bill Schaub from Addison and Josh Chambers the new Principal from Glenbard East. On June 19th, Gerry Arnold was a guest of club and was presented Dick's badge. Prospected member Dan Wittington was also a guest.

Fines and Happy Fines: On May 29th, Finemistress Deb caught some tardy Rotarians as Tom, Ray, Doc, Deanna and last but not least…Connie. She hit Brian for a Simone Legree comment, Scott for not having any scholarship photos in this weeks paper (and just as a footnote, I noticed that this week there still was no photo) ooops! Scott paid the five dollars and Brian matched it. She also fined herself and Yvonne for being two E.D's. at one table. Happy fines from Steve whose son Chad graduated from G.E. and also placed fifth in the shot put. John B. was happy that the boy's volleyball team was doing well and his daughter also graduated. He was also happy that Doc finished his speech from the scholarship lunch. Bob H. was happy that his daughter got married over the weekend and Brian had two granddaughters graduating from middle school and high school. Rich was happy that he took his first two week vacation in 30 years. Dennis had a family reunion at his house, went to the Lincoln Park Zoo with six kids and ended up with one extra. On June 5th, the Sgt. Caught Kathy slipping in late. Caught Doc without his pin, John B. for a five dollar phone fine from the previous week. Greg and Patric were two bankers at the same table, along with two Bob's, two Exec. Dir.,and two Gary's at one table. Rick got nailed for a picture fine. Happy fines from Rick, whose daughter graduated from college, Brian who will be celebrating 49 years with Jean, and also his grandson turned 17. On June 12th, her reign is ending but she keeps on fining, as Chief Ed found out when he arrived late. John N. for no pin and Kathy and Rick for phone tampering. You'd think they'd learn as Yvonne and Deb were fined for the two Director fine. Celluloid fines went out to Dan (ME?) and Yvonne. Happy fines from Bob H who finally abolished the rental fees on CD's and DVD's, JohnN. was happy to be able to dress casual. Jean thanked everyone who supported her on her first walk to stamp out NF. Bob McB. was happy that the moment of silence law was abolished and since this was his last lunch he thanked everyone for their friendship over the years. Yvonne was happy that her son Brandon who is in Holland was given a scholarship by the Dutch government. It gives him full tuition, living expenses and 1000 Euro travel expense. Not Bad! Dennis has a b'day coming up and all of his kid's will be home. John sends greetings from Jack. And finally Deb's daughter was proposed to at her son's graduation party. Deanna has a birthday and passed the basket. On June 19th, there were lots of happy fines to numerous to print. MIA from the board meeting this morning were Kim, Bill, Marge, Kathy, Rick, Jim B. and Bob McB. Picture fines for Ron, Yvonne Gary and Deb were paid. Club did install Art as a new member, we welcome Art and his wallet. We also recognized our newest Paul Harris fellows: Rich, Gary S, Rick Bill L. and Dick S. Dan and Ray received their's at the board meeting. Dennis and Patric were the b'day boy's and passed the basket as we all sang.

Announcements: On May 29th, President Steve informed club, that Bob Carter's wife Marlene passed away. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Bob and his family. Elizabeth Erb who was awarded the Dick Arnold scholarship sent us a very nice thank you . On June 5th, Greg announced that Bob Carter wished to thank everyone who sent cards or flowers. On June 12th, Jean announced that the Installation invites were sent out. Steve announced the combined lunch between Lombard and Glen Ellyn would be July 24th at the mini golf in Glen Ellyn. FORE!!!

Object of Rotary - or Be Reminded: the first regular (Thursday) meeting of every month is "Food or $5" as members will have the choice of bringing a food item to help supply for the Food Pantry or pay a $5 fine of to support First Things First. When a speaker is not scheduled on the first Thursday of each month, the time will be spent in quality fellowship and member to member interaction.

Weekly Raffle - On May 29th, Jeans table had the winning ticket, but she picked the nine of diamonds. On June 5th, Juliana picked the winning ticket for Jean's table, again and she picked the 6 of spades. On June 12th, Ricks's table won and Yvonne picked the 7 of diamonds. On June 19th, the ace of hearts was pulled
