Rotary Corner - This month I would like to introduce the

May Board Meeting Highlights - See the secretary.
Welcome To Our Speakers: On April 24th, I was absent
from lunch, and since no one took notes I don't know if we had a
speaker or not. So there. But on May 1st, it was the blue
ribbon panel consisting of Rich G., Rick S. and Kathy
V. On May 8th, there was no speaker. On May 15th,
our speakers were Stephanie Walsh and Amy Liss from Easter Seals,
who let us know that Easter Seals was started by a Rotarian named
Edgar Allen and is the 2nd largest Health Charity in the U.S.
Honored Guests: On May 1st, Pat Poskasil, from the
Historical Society was on hand to receive a check from club,
Gary Bird's son in law, Calen Currence,Jean Johnson, Hank from
Ludington, Ayden Lalani from V.P. Rotary and Aaron Rochholz who
will be inducted today as our newest member. On May 8th,
Diane Arturi was our guest. On May 15th, our guest was prospective
member Art Frerichs.
Fines and Happy Fines: On May 1st, the Sgt,
Caught Doc walking in late, Steve, Tom, Bob McB, Kathy
& John N for pin violations and John gave a larger
amount of cash so the sgt. Wouldn't bother him for the rest
of the meeting. Brian got fined for a not so nice comment
about light shining off of Jim I. head and Rick sat
at one table and decided to move to another, but he took a roll
with him leaving the table one roll short. Picture fines were paid
by Ron, Ralph, Bob McB. and Deb. Happy Fines were in abundance
by Kim, whose daughter turned 18 and was accepted to Valpo.
Bob M. was happy that a day was set aside for Dan Tani.
Rich was happy that John was back. Brian was happy
that his grand daughter who is on JV badmitton made 1st place on
team and 1st place in singles. Dennis was happy that after
years of trying and that if you work hard , you get to sit with
the cheerleaders, like Dan Tani. And after Aaron was
inducted as a member of club, everyone paid a dollar for our newest
member. We sang Happy B'day to Kim and Steve. On May
8th, Pat was late, as was Connie. Ed S. paid a badge
fine, Dennis was caught on the phone, we had two bankers
(Greg and Pat) at the same table and two Exec's (Deb and
Yvonne) sitting together. Bill, Ray and Yvonne were all
smiles as they were caught on camera. Happy fines from Yvonne,
who was glad the Craft Fair was a success and now the Lilac Ball
tomorrow night. I was happy that my son will be graduating from
Western Illinois on Saturday. And Ralph has two grand kids
graduating H.S. and 2 graduating 8th grade.(His poor check book)
John B. had a b'day and as is tradition he would match what
club members would donate. On May15th, Deb was hot
on the heels of Steve and Kathy V. for pin violations,
Bob McB., Jim B., Connie, Kathy, Doc Arndt and John BB for
late fines. Jean and Jim B paid up for not being at the board
meeting. Bill, Tom, Yvonne, Deb and yours truly for picture
fines. And for those who were not in the Many Faces of Lombard pullout
pay up. Happy fine time. Rick was happy that his daughter
was graduating and also has a job, Yvonne was happy about leaving
for Amsterdam, to visit her son. Bob McB. was happy that
the GE Boy's Volleyball team is now ranked #1 Steve's son
Chad was honored at the Senior Honors at GE and the same for John
BB whose daughter Maggie was honored by the Jaycees and Rick
was the presenter. Ed S. son was also honored the same night.
Jim B. was happy to hear that park View school and it's principal
Cathy Tobin were the recipients two years in a row for the Veolia
Award. And he travelled to U of I for the battle of the Middle School
Bands and Westlake band was voted one of the 6 best in state, and
won honor band also. Deb's son Kyle is graduating from NIU
this weekend.
Announcements: On May 1st, President Steve
announced the board meeting minutes were available up front and
the Scholarship lunch sign up sheet would be going around. On May
8th, Prez Steve announced Tammy Duckworth, would be at
the Elgin Rotary Club luncheon and that the board meeting is next
week. On May 15th, Dennis announced that he was in Springfield
visiting his daughter and saw no sight of Gov. Blago. And he behaved
himself. President Steve announced that June 19th would
be set aside for the rest of Paul Harris inductees to be
honored. And he also read a thank you from Pat Poskosil.
Object of Rotary - or Be Reminded: the first regular (Thursday)
meeting of every month is "Food or $5" as members will
have the choice of bringing a food item to help supply for the Food
Pantry or pay a $5 fine of to support First Things First. When a
speaker is not scheduled on the first Thursday of each month, the
time will be spent in quality fellowship and member to member interaction.
Weekly Raffle, On May 1st, Jean picked the Jack of clubs.
On May 8th, the back table had the winning ticket and Doc
picked the 3 of Hearts. On May 15th, Bob McB's table
won and Brian picked the Ace of Diamonds.
