Rotary Corner - On Thursday, April 17th club had the honor of meeting 3 students from Glenbard East H.S. Our two RYLA attendees, Marquis Mason and Bertha Gonzalez who spent a weekend at Camp Edwards in East Troy, WI. They shared with us their experiences with other fellow RYLA members. They hoped that they can relive their experiences again next year. And our other student from GEHS was Lizzette Melo-Benitez who spend four days in our nations capitol. She was part of the Close up Foundation. She spent a good amount of time at the Capitol, which was her favorite memory of her whole trip. As Bob McBride said, "I chose these students, because I believe them to be future leaders".

Welcome To Our Speakers: On March 27th, our speaker was Jim Reichardt, who shared with us his photos of his trip to Thailand. On April 3rd, our speakers were Kevin Burns and Christine Daniels from Midwest University. On April 10th, no speaker but we honored Jim I., Connie and Mike for their Paul Harris membership. On April 17th, our speakers were, see Rotary Corner.

Honored Guests: On March 27th, our guests today were, Elaine Scweppe, Erin Seal from Zed's and Ken Schrader. On April 3rd, Brian Burke from the Schaumburg club, Bill Von Stein from the Elmhurst club and Yvonne Invergo from the Chamber of Commerce were here. On April 10th, Yvonne Invergo from the Chamber was our guest. On April 17th, our guests were Aaron Rochholz from Fifth Third Bank and Yvonne Invergo from the Chamber of Commerce. She was also inducted today as a member of the Rotary Club of Lombard. Welcome Yvonne , to our club.

Fines and Happy Fines: On March 27th, the Finemaster was under the weather. So no dollar bills were harmed during today's lunch. On April 3rd,she was back all happy and healthy as Deb caught Connie and Kathy slipping in late. Two Village employees at one table, Bill and Ray.New member Tom didn't know about Food or Five, so the membership chairs were fined. (Kathy and Marge if you're keeping score). Picture fines for Ed S. , Steve and Rich G. Happy fines. Rick was happy about the upcoming marriage of his daughter on Saturday. Ralph talked to his grandson inAfghanistan and was amazed how clear the signal was. Ralph also let our visitor's know about the club banner that went into space with Astronaut Dan Tani. Brian from Schaumburg was happy about the table he was seated at. And Charlie was happy that he finally paid off his daughters wedding, after 10 years. Happy birthday wishes were praised on Ray and Dan as they passed the basket(s). Don't they look good for their age? On April 10th, Deb again was on the prowl for the tardy members. Deanna and Connie were the victims. Kathy paid her pin fine. Deb and Ron M. paid up for picture fines. Happy fines were as follows. Rick walked his lovely daughter down the aisle on Saturday and everything was beautiful. Tom P. is having a ribbon cutting this afternoon at his business. Steve's son Chad turns 18 this weekend. Jean was happy her son is turning one tomorrow and Dennis' daughter who works in Springfield as a lobbyist ran into fellow Lombardians visiting the Capitol. On April 17th, late fines were paid by Bob H. and Connie. Ed S. paid his pin fine and morning board metting no shows were Jim., Ray, Bob McB. and Jean. Gary B. was fined for not sitting with his guest. There were two Bobs' sitting at one table fine, that would be Mertz and Whitacre. We also had a picture fine for Ed S. Happy fines were aplenty as Brian was happy about Gary B's. Lasik surgery and Rick S. paid a fine for Brian who called Gary B. Bob. Gary was happy that he can see great without his glasses now. Bob Mertz was happy to be celebrating his 48th wedding anniversary. After all was said and done, it was pointed out by some members that the Sgt. Missed a few fines, such as 2 more Bob's at one table, Harris and McBride. And she missed two realtors, Kathy and Brian sitting together. After Yvonne was inducted as a member, the Sgt. again passed the basket for everyone to pony up a dollar in honor of our new member.

Announcements: On March 27th, Gary B. announced he was having eye surgery and wanted to switch speaker dates with someone. We learned about the loss of Ray's mother, our deepest sympathies to him and his family. Bob McB. again reminded us about the Scholarship lunch on May 22nd. Steve announced the Installation dinner on June 26th. Dennis shared his profound experience during the Stations of the Cross at Old St. Pat's Chuch. Jean gave us an update on John. His cancer treatment s are going along and he is feeling great. His golf game has never been better. On April 3rd, Rick gave us the sad news that Bill Mueller has cancer again, our prayers are with him and his family. Gary B. was in California to see John and let us know that he will be back in Lombard on April 17th. Good news. Brian Burke announced that the District Conference is coming up on April 24th at the Westin Itasca. Bill Von Stein passed around the Elmhurst club's raffle tickets if anyone was interested. On April 10th, Dennis mentioned that JR's Cyclery will give out coupons towards a new bike if you bring an old one in. This is for the bike recycling. Time TBA.

Object of Rotary - or Be Reminded: the first regular (Thursday) meeting of every month is "Food or $5" as members will have the choice of bringing a food item to help supply for the Food Pantry or pay a $5 fine of to support First Things First. When a speaker is not scheduled on the first Thursday of each month, the time will be spent in quality fellowship and member to member interaction.

Weekly Raffle - On March 27th, it was Bob W's table who had the winning ticket. So Ed S. and Dennis joined hands and picked the four of diamonds. On April 3rd, Kim's table won and Kim picked the 9 of hearts. On April 10th, it was Mike's table that had the winning ticket, but alas Mike picked the queen of hearts. On April 17 the back table had the winning ticket and Doc Arndt picked the 9 of diamonds.
