Rotary Corner - Highlights from our District Governors visit.
Michael A. Ericksen posed three questions to our board. 1. What
does our club do best? 2. What are our goals ? 3. What can RI do
to help us ? General discussion of what we do best, included community
service, great comraderie, as we work well together and our scholarships,
based on the sale of 200 raffle tickets @ $110.00 each. Mr Ericksen
asked what we are known for by community leaders? He suggested we
show leadership with our fundraising. Discussion of our goals included,
increasing membership. Mr Ericksen suggested each member sponsor
at least one new member. He noted that pins are available for sponsors.
President Flint had set a goal of four new members during his year.
Continuing education. President Flint wants members more involved
in learning more about Rotary. Also discussed were, Membership retention,
Marketing the club, encouraging makeups. DG Ericksen challenged
us to consider Lombard's greatest need. We believe this is helping
the poor and homeless. He said there is a program to donate used
business computers to the poor. DG Ericksen suggested increases
to the Rotary Foundation. This can be done on a dues basis. He also
suggestewd we apply for District Simplified Grants, by which means
the District matcheds our funds raised.
