Rotary Corner: Due to technical difficulties on RI's end, no Rotary Corner this month.

July Board Meeting Highlights: On July 12th, the Board met at Casey's. The minutes were approved and the Treasurer's Report was as follows. Harris checking $18,763.00, West Suburban $1,122.00, West Suburban restricted fund $1,507.00. As of 3/31/07 Trust Agency Fund $98,174.00. No change in CD or Trust fund. Designated fund $41,866.00. Birthday Fund $1,018.00. Raffle $1,143.00. Memorials sent in the name of Dick Arnold are over $2,100.00. Bob W. informed the Board that b'day cards are up to date and another Blue Ribbon panel will resurface in August. Kim & Ray were going to get an idea what club members wanted as far as the late summer picnic. Dennis informed the club that with the money for the Triathalon he and his daughter are doing, he needs approx. $200.00 more for another well in Haiti.Marge is looking for new members, if you know of anyone, bring'em in. Rick still has openings for speakers. Jim had some more thank you's from scholarship winners and club is looking into a payment discrepancy with a past scholar. We received a $300.00 refund from Weber Grill. THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR will be here on September 13th. One of our unnamed Scholarships will become the Dick Arnold Scholarship. Marge Topel asked to be placed on Active Retired.

Welcome to our Speakers: On July 19th, Pork. No Speaker. On July 26th, Chicken, we welcomed our speakers from the Wheaton Rotary Club. Bob Lyon, Kurt Parent, Paulette Dyon and Doug Kimbly talked and gave a power point presentation of their trip to Kabale, Uganda. They spent 10 days there back in February. We got the chance to see the bus (van) we donated money to back a few years ago. It has the name of our club, as well as Glen Ellyn's and Wheaton's. The members of the Wheaton club went there to see what their $12,000 paid for. A very enlightening experience for everyone.. It makes you appreciate what you have. On August 2nd , Fish, our Speakers were Deb and Jim B., taking part in the "Blue Ribbon Panel", and speaking on "Ethics and High Moral Standards in the workplace".On August 9th, Beef, our speakers were Susan Levitt and Lisa Brown from CNS Home Health & Hospice. They spoke on the home health and hospice care that as we get older and our parents get older , it's something to think about.

Announcements: On July 19th, Rick needs speakers, Dennis is $200.00 short of the goal for another well in Haiti. On July 26th, Dennis made a last pitch for donation for the fifth well. And he will have a power point presentation about his triathalon on August 30th. Looking forward to it. President elect Nolan informed members that RI's President has declared August "Bring a guest to Rotary", she asked everyone to bring a guest to club, so they can see what we are all about. On August 9th, President Steve thanked everyone who took charge while he was off galavanting around our 50th state for two weeks, and also reminded board members about the board meeting on the 16th.

Fines & Happy Fines: On July 19th, Sgt Deb nailed Rick S., Greg and Bob McB. For being no shows at the previous weeks Board meeting. Late for lunch were Bob McB, Doc Arndt & Connie. No pins, Ron M., Pete, John N. and Greg Y. Greg was fined for charging scooters when we didn't have a speaker. No one told him. John N. was fined for retrieving his scooter money back from the bank for him and Bob H. Ron M. was hit for a picture fine. Brian J. was Happy that Gary B. wasn't hurt after his car was smacked at Taylor and Grace, he got a new car out of it. Bob W. was happy that his daughter was flying in that afternoon from Colorado Springs to visit. Rick S. was happy that his daughter was going to get? Engaged at Country Thunder (red neck Woodstock) this weekend. Pete O's parents were visiting from Ireland. Dan was happy that his daughters nuptials were five weeks away and his friends son, Kyle, was on leave from Iraq and visiting home in Elmhurst. A hearty round of Happy B'day was sung to Doc Arndt and Bob W.
On July 26th, Kathy V. paid her pin fine and also a no show fine for the last Board meeting, a $5.00 picture fine to herself(Deb), Kim and Ron for being on the cover of the Lombardian. Gary B. and Kathy V. paid a luxury tax fine on the new cars they purchased. Happy fines. Rick S. daughter is officially engaged, Maury was glad to be out of the hospital and back at club and Brian's two grand daughters are off across the pond to merry old England. We sang happy birthday to Charlie but reminded him the money he collects, goes to club and not his pockets. Sorry Charlie! (always wanted to say that) On August 2nd, Bill L., Rich G., Connie, Bob C. and Ron M. were late and ponied up,Marge was fined for bragging about a family member in a magazine article, Maury and Rich G. were nailed for being two accountants at the same table. Here's a new one. DIVERSITY FINE? Dennis, Bob M., Gary B., Ralph,Brian and Jim B. for having no women at their table. Charlie and Maury talking during the Sgt's Happy Fine. Picture fines were handed out to Ray and Dennis got nailed for $5.00 for being on the cover of the Lombardian. Happy Fines on this fine afternoon. Bill L. son made law review at NW Law School and Deb's friend ho lives in St. Paul was not on the 35W bridge and is fine. Happy birthday was sung to Ralph as he passed around the basket. On August 9th, Rich G., Doc Arndt and Ray were late to lunch. Ray paid another picture fine, Steve was fined for being goneat the start of his reign, but did make two make ups in Hawaii. Brian paid up for a water on the brain comment towards women, and Chiefs Ed and Ray were caught sitting at the same table. On August 9th, Gary S. passed around the b'day basket.Happy fines today - Dan's oldest daughter got engaged over the weekend and a wedding is planned in Vegas in January. Dennis survived his Iron Man with his daughter and will talk about it on the 30th. Bob C. granddaughter made 1st team varity in cheerleading @ Glenbard W. Doc Arndt informed us that he was in Minneapolis on the 50th floor of the IDS Bldg. and could see the smoke from the collapsed bridge. He saw Air Force One at the airport with the Pres. And First Lady.

Object of Rotary - or Be Reminded: the first regular (Thursday) meeting of every month is "Food or $5" as members will have the choice of bringing a food item to help supply for the Food Pantry or pay a $5 fine of to support First Things First. When a speaker is not scheduled on the first Thursday of each month, the time will be spent in quality fellowship and member to member interaction.

Weekly Raffle: On July 19th, the table of Jean N. won as Jean picked the 6 of hearts. The winners were Dan, John and Jean N., Gary B. and Brian. Congrats! A new deck and a new card will be drawn on the 26th.On July 26th, the nine of spades is the new card. Bob McB's table won the honor and Bob picked the queen of diamonds. Only 51 cards left. On August 2nd, Dennis' table were the lucky ticket holders and Dennis picked the King of clubs. August 9th Dan (hey that's me) pulled the 7 of clubs for his table. Mark Your Calendars
